Hello everyone! I'm new to this tribe. My name is Angelina and I started handcrafting organic skin care products as a single mom. I'm a botanist and a massage therapist, by training, but needed something I could do with a flexible schedule. I'd been brewing up things for myself and my son for years, and finally got my company off the ground just recently!

starting a baby clothing company

hi all - i am in the beginning stages of a baby clothing business. essentially, i have fabric sources, ideas for patterns, a web designer, (my friend) a model, (my daughter) and a head full of ideas.

anyone else have any advice for what the hell to do next? i know i would probably need a patternmaker, but after that, do i have the clothes manufactured? where can i do that?

It is rather a sad state of affairs that Breast Cancer Research focuses on fixing the problem and not on Prevention. Despite millions of dollars being spent on research, breast cancer continues to rise at an alarming rate. As of 2004 one in seven will get breast cancer. In 2000 it was one in 8.
More American women have died of breast cancer in the last 20 years than the number of Americans killed in World War I, World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War combined.

There is a really interesting line of research that explores the ways in which Western Civilization has changed the way in which women bind their breasts. There is rather startling information that points to bras having a dramatic effect on the lymphatic system that surrounds the breast area. It has been found that even the softest properly fitted bra (not too small or too tight) totally blocks ALL lymphatic flow from the breasts. The purpose of the lymphatic system is to remove toxins (environmental and chemical) from our bodies. The lymphatic system is an extremely low pressure system designed to work with breast movement as past of the circulatory system. The slightest finger pressure is enough to totally stop the function of the system. What we can be certain of is that breast cancer, as with all cancers, are caused by toxins that alter the natural growth of a cell so that instead of the cell reproducing itself in the normal way, its reproduction goes out of control and does not stop. This is what cancer is all about.

There is a link to a female medical Doctor who believes bras are one of the leading causes of the Western Worlds high incidence of Breast Cancer. Parts of the world where women do not wear bras are virtually devoid of breast cancer. All about breastfeeding.. Do you think it's okay to breast feed your child in public places butothers complain that your behavior is inappropriate? Have strangers told you that they are appalled by your breast feeding inrestaurants, grocery stores, public restrooms, department stores,doctor's offices, etc. but you think breast feeding is such a naturaland beautiful act that you should have the right to do it anywhere andanytime you please? I'm Jolie (the moderator) and I look forward to meeting other moms who are trying to do the same thing: make a decent living doing something I love while being a great mom to my child.

I'm a single mom & my son is 18-months-old. We're moving to Berkeley next month.

I'm making children's toys, art, and furniture out of my Bay Area home. I'm just starting out with fabric projects & eventually want to add woodworking. I plan to use organic cotton fabrics, eco-timber and all-natural, non-toxic finishes.
